"We commissioned Max and the team in 2020 to design an extensive renovation for our home in Cass Bay, Christchurch. The home was built in 1966 and required a complete change in layout to improve both its flow and to take full advantage of it’s fantastic location.

 

Max came up with a concept plan that exceeded our expectations and we were excited to commence the project. The communication, both in the design stage and throughout the renovation, was excellent. For example, when insulation issues arose due to the way the home had been built, Max’s team were aware of the latest insulation panel products available. They came up with a solution enabling us to maintain the character of the ceiling beams whilst providing an exceptionably warm home at the same time.

 

One of the real highlights for us is the design of the entrance to our home. It’s corten steel canopy over the door and it’s neolith stone exterior wall creates real impact.

They put in the hard yards scoping my earthquake-damaged property for my insurance company.  I subsequently engaged them to design and manage my new build. "When we started our house renovation project, we met with several recommended architects before settling on MC Architecture Studio. Our renovation required a complete reclad of our 1980’s plaster home, new joinery, new roof to meet the current requirements and a facelift in design to bring our home to current standards.

 

Max listened to our requirements and wish list and suggested changes to completely modernise the outside look of our home. We really liked his design flair and as we worked through the project we appreciated his attention to detail, his knowledge of the building requirements and products, his work with council, and his thorough management of the job along with our builders. His communication was excellent and we knew exactly what was ahead of us all the way through.

 

We particularly liked his approach to the build, in that he visited the site regularly to work closely with the builders and to answer technical details as they arose. This approach is in contrast to some architects that essentially disappear once the drawings have been through council! Max was with us every step of the way to completion.

 

We are absolutely thrilled with our “new” home and have received many compliments from neighbours and passers-by on the transformation.
